Opening Checkpoint
This week didn’t move the way I expected.
No cabin progress.
No workouts.
No steps forward on the exercise quest.
But something important did happen, and it happened during one of the most chaotic weeks I’ve had in a long time.
On Saturday, I realised my car’s MOT was running out and I only had a few days left before I was in fining territory.
The car had been sitting for 2-3 months while I borrowed my mate’s, because mine needed work I couldn’t justify paying for.
On Monday, I managed to get someone to come collect it and scrap it.
On Tuesday, the MOT officially ran out, meaning I had just barely avoided a legal problem.
And here’s the part that matters:
By Friday, I weighed myself and had lost 5 lbs.
Not from a calm week.
Not from stability.
Not from routine.
From consistency inside chaos.
This week reminded me of something important:
Quests don’t stay in neat rows.
Life reorders them, and your character shows up in how you respond.
Quest Log
Rebuilding the Direction
Every active quest lives here. Even when they change.
1. The Car Quest
This quest didn’t exist last week.
It wasn’t planned.
It wasn’t even on the radar.
But the moment I realised the MOT was days from expiring, and that my insurance had technically been invalid since the car was scrapped.
The quest became unavoidable.
I need a car.
Not for convenience.
Not for fun.
But because life doesn’t work without one.
This quest is now the top priority:
find a reliable car
stay within budget
stay ULEZ‑compliant
get insured
get back to stability
It’s the kind of quest TLiaG was built for.
Unexpected, urgent, and real.
2. The Health Quest
Down 5 lbs this week.
And the timing matters.
This wasn’t a calm, controlled week.
This was a week full of stress, urgency, and logistical chaos.
But portion control held.
The diet reset held.
The WHY held.
Quiet progress again, but this time under pressure.
3. The Cabin Creation Quest
No movement.
The wall clock is still waiting.
The LED lights are still waiting.
The corner is still paused.
Not abandoned.
Just temporarily overshadowed by a quest that demanded attention.
4. The Exercise Quest
Still stuck.
Still resisting.
Still avoiding.
And with the car situation taking over, this quest naturally slid down the list.
Not gone.
Just waiting for the next window.
Patterns I Noticed
Life reorders quests - You don’t always get to choose what becomes important. Sometimes the world chooses for you.
Urgency creates clarity - The car quest instantly became the priority because the consequences were real.
Consistency under pressure matters - Losing 5 lbs in a chaotic week says more than losing 5 lbs in a calm one.
Friction reveals itself - Cabin and exercise didn’t move because life demanded attention elsewhere.
Quests evolve - Some weeks you push a quest forward. Some weeks a new one appears and everything shifts.
What I’m Trying Next
This week, the focus is simple:
find a car
keep portion control steady
reduce chocolate slips
attempt one workout if the week allows
keep the cabin quest alive, even if it doesn’t move
stay aligned with the cadence
No dramatic plans.
No new quests.
Just responding to the world as it is.
Tiny Wins
Down 5 lbs consistency under pressure.
Caught the MOT issue early avoided a bigger problem.
Identified a new quest and accepted its priority.
Kept the newsletter cadence even in a chaotic week.
Stayed aligned didn’t drift, even when life reshuffled everything.
