Opening Checkpoint
This week’s issue is different.
It’s not a quest update.
It’s a cadence reset.
I realised that trying to write each Friday about the same week I’m still living was creating pressure instead of clarity. TLiaG is meant to be reflective, a weekly checkpoint, not a live diary.
So this issue exists to give me a week’s grace.
A buffer.
Space to see the week clearly before I write about it.
And honestly, this pause gives me the perfect moment to talk about something that matters more than any quest update:
why your WHY matters.
From now on, each Friday’s issue will reflect on the previous week, not the current one.
This is the rhythm TLiaG needs.
Your First TLiaG Lesson
Your WHY Must Be Strong (and Evolve)
A strong WHY is what keeps you moving when the road gets uncomfortable.
It’s the thing that pulls you forward when motivation fades, when resistance shows up, when the quest feels bigger than you expected.
This week, I found mine.
I’m losing weight for a lot of reasons:
more energy
more focus
more strength
better overall health
But none of those reasons hit me the way the real WHY did:
I want my partner to feel comfortable sleeping beside me again.
That moment. Waking up alone because my snoring had become unbearable, cut deeper than any number on a scale ever could.
It wasn’t shame.
It wasn’t embarrassment.
It was clarity.
It was the WHY.
And that WHY has kept me on track far more than the other four reasons combined.
It’s emotional.
It’s human.
It’s connected to someone I love.
The Part Most People Miss
Your WHY Must Evolve
A WHY isn’t permanent.
It’s not a tattoo.
It’s a checkpoint.
When I reach a healthy weight. When the snoring fades and my partner sleeps beside me again. That WHY will lose its urgency.
It will have done its job.
And if I stop there, the quest stops too.
A WHY must change, grow, and evolve as you do.
I don’t know what my next WHY will be.
Maybe strength.
Maybe longevity.
Maybe confidence.
Maybe being a better example for my son.
I don’t know yet.
But TLiaG is about discovering it together. Noticing the moment when one WHY finishes its job and another steps forward.
A quest doesn’t end when the first WHY is achieved.
It transforms.
Why This Matters for TLiaG
TLiaG isn’t about perfect habits or flawless progress.
It’s about alignment, making sure the quests you choose match the person you’re trying to become.
A strong WHY is the bridge between intention and action.
An evolving WHY is the bridge between progress and continuity.
This week reminded me that every quest needs a WHY, and every WHY needs room to grow.
The New Cadence
Starting next Friday:
Issue 4 will cover this week’s progress
Every issue after that will reflect on the previous week
The Quest Log will continue as normal
New TLiaG lessons will appear as we learn them
The rhythm will be sustainable, clear, and aligned with TLiaG’s philosophy
This issue is the checkpoint that makes that possible.
